Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Cleans entire bus interior by vacuuming, dusting, washing bus floors, walls, ceiling, windows, stanchions, seats, and dash area. Disinfects as needed/assigned. Also cleans and maintains shop area.  
  • Visual concentration and attention to detail are constantly required. Sitting, standing, stretching, bending, and twisting are required when cleaning. Works in a shop area 100% of the time. 
  • Follows legislation (e.g., health and safety, WHMIS) and takes steps to mitigate risks associated with chemicals, vehicle emissions, noise, moving vehicles/equipment, and other materials in the workplace.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Reading, writing, and math skills, attention to detail, plus 1 year of general labour experience. 
  • Ability to work independently, while also following instructions. 
  • Communication skills to exchange information with others (e.g., supervisor, co-workers) and participate as an effective team member.  
  • Functional knowledge of the proper and safe operation and use of equipment related to job duties.
  • Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

To be considered for employment as a student, a person must be: registered as a full-time secondary or post-secondary student in an accredited institution, or currently recognized as having full-time status by the academic institution but applying for a school vacation, practicum or work term, or returning to full-time studies in the next academic term. Students who are in their final year of academic study and who are not intending to return to full-time studies are eligible for student employment up until the time they convocate. Students participating in education and retraining programs at the post- secondary level, though not full-time students, are eligible for related student employment opportunities, where appropriate.
